The PEAK, Promoting Environmental Awareness in Kids, program is the result of a partnership between the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and REI (Recreation Equipment Incorporated) and is designed to educate children about the outdoors and responsible enjoyment of our shared public lands.

This program is designed to give people with little knowledge of astronomy an opportunity to view features of the winter sky. (Show goes on, even with clouds they have some great videos and will still have some scopes set up.)

Do you enjoy watching the birds outside the window in your yard squabbling over a seed, splashing in a puddle, or cruising around the flowers? Why are humans so interested in birds?? This is your opportunity to explore your interest in birds and learn the basics of binocular use and bird identification.

Bring your family (recommended for children 7 and over) and join Tom and Patsy Inglet for this great program.  You may bring your own binoculars if you wish or we will have a few pair to loan.

Enjoy a beautiful evening of stories and a campfire (if we get some rain) in one of San Antonio’s Natural Areas.  Emma Ortega, a Lipan Apache storyteller, will share from her collection of stories, many about nature.  This is definitely one for the whole family! The activity will be at the outdoor classroom (entrance near the public restrooms).  See you there!
