San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department The First Saturday Interpretive Hikes, planned to give people an introduction to the natural and cultural history of four of San Antonio's Natural Areas, are conducted at Crown Ridge Canyon Natural Area, Eisenhower Park, Friedrich Wilderness Park and Walker Ranch Historical Landmark. Reservations are highly recommended, as the hike will not be conducted if there are no pre-registered participants. Call 210/564-6400. Participants are limited to 15 per hike. For groups of 8 or more please call to schedule a separate hike. Meet at the restrooms near the parking lot in each park. Be sure to BRING WATER to drink! A donation of $2 per person is suggested. |

January 5, 2008 Walker Ranch Historic Park
Start the New Year out with a walk with us through Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park.
We will discuss the cultural history of this special place as well as the natural history that influenced its early uses. Get some exercise after the holiday feasts and learn about this great Natural Area at the same time!
February 2, 2008 Eisenhower Park
Join us for a natural and cultural history interpretive walk through the hill country at Eisenhower Park. It may be warm and sunny and it may be snowing. Come enjoy the park in the winter possibilities! You should still bring water for the hike!!!!! |

May 3, 2008 Walker Ranch Historic Park Green oak leaves, green cactus pads, green retama stems – come ‘celebrate the green’ on our Natural Area hike! Maybe the red-shouldered hawks will drop by to say ‘hello’.
